First Project: Magazine Ad.
The first assignment that we were told to create was an ad from a magazine. During this project I had to look though different magazines to find the images that I want to create my ad and make it attractive. For this project, I took different pictures of people of relative size from throughout the magazine and cut different parts of them off to create a person that has many different styles in one. The point of doing this was to pass the point of expressing yourself and being who you want to be, having an original style, not just like everyone else. The process was basically that you had to take images out of a magazine to make your own ad and then paste them on your created ad to make it your own, and portray what you want. So, after this was all finished, the ad that I created is trying to portray to the reader that you should be your own person, and be yourself and not copy other people on how they think you as a person should live. If you like to do something that other people may or may not like to do, you should not change to satisfy them, but instead do what you want to do and enjoy it. I didn't really get much feedback throughout this project, but what some people told me is that i did a nice job constructing the ad and lining up the different parts of the people that I cut and pasted together. I learned so many different skills during this project, such as design strategies like balance, lines, color, shapes, and many more. I also learned about the website Weebly.com where you can make an online website which I am on now. I can apply what I learned to other projects like making websites or for jobs I could make a website for the company. I think I would do the project the same because I like the way it came out.
Invitation To Birthday Party:
For this project we had to make some sort of flyer or invitation. Some of the rules that we had to follow in the making of this project was the one third of the paper rule where the title takes up one third of the page. Also, we learned that there is an imaginary border line that you can use in making the invitation to make it look neater. When he told us that we were making invitations and I was having my birthday party in a couple weeks I thought it was a good idea to make me real birthday invitation in class for the project. We learned how to make an explosion behind the title of the page to make it look more interesting. Then we learned how to put in a text box to put all of the information in such as time, date, place, etc. After that, I inserted pictures using clip art to make it look better and show images about the party, and what will be there. One of the elements that I used was shapes, and also colors. Another element was variety because I used many different things in the ad. The final product was the invitation to my party telling me when this will happen, where, RSVP, and some of the events that will take place during the party. So, some of the things that I learned after finishing this project is how to use Windows Publisher, how to make a title come to life, how to insert text boxes, how to add picture, and how to use the outside margin so that the page looks more organized and neat. This was a fun project and if I decided to do it again I would probably make it along the lines of a Halloween party because there are a lot of cool designs and images that you can use to make the ad.
Halloween Party Invitation:
My third assignment was that we had to make a Halloween black and white version of an invitation. Some of the things that I needed to know before starting this project was how to open a blank page in publisher and how to add pictures into it all in black and white. I would have to add the picture, select it, and then change the color sceme to black and white instead of normal colors. The process to this project was that we would have to get a picture off of clip art, or google images, and then insert them onto the page. After we get it onto the page, we would have to change it to black and white, and do this for all of the pictures. Basically, once I finished this project, what you are looking at is an invitation to a Scary Halloween party. The invitation will tell you the date, time, place, RSVP date, and what it is. This is a spooky invitation to let you know that it is a Halloween Party. Throughout this project, I didnt really get much feedback besides Hope Estrella who sits on the side of me who at one point called my invitation a "Masterpiece". Some of the things that I learned throughout this project was how to change pictures into black and white and how to make them contrasting. I also learned how to use the line drawing pictures from Clip Art. If I would do this project again I might use a main picture in the background and it would be black and the clip art pictures in front of it would be white, so in this way, it would be contrasting. That is what I would do differently if I was to do this project again.
Thayer Street Brochure: Outside Cover
I expected Thayer Street to be a bit more a busy and important street, but at the same time it was busy and important. I had just anticipated it to be even more important. Going to Thayer street will eventually help me out in life and it is a real life experience because you have to make a brochure, and you may or may not have to make a design or brochure for a company that you will eventually work at. In this way, it will prepare you for what you will need to do later. Something that I thought I missed out on during the field trip is all of the other subjects because they were not involved with my subject which was Unique products and services. Things like clothing stores, resteraunts, small businesses and anything else that did not go along with Unique Products and Services. If I were to go again I would want to have a more broad topic like stores in general that you can find on Thayer Street. The most memorable part of the trip was the small resteraunt called La Creperie, which was a small resteraunt which sold unique, different kinds of Crepes from fruit on the inside to smore's. And I love Crepes so that was very memorable in my opinion.
